ABOUT

Hi! I’m Steve, founder of Pro Piano Series. I love music, and I love teaching. For me, music isn’t just about chords and melody—it’s about expressing what you feel and how it makes you feel. I experienced a transformative "aha" moment with music at the age of 12. I would lock myself in our guest room with my old upright piano, playing until I felt something. That indescribable "feeling" has driven my entire career.

Music has always been my motivation. After years of pursuing music through high school, college, and eventually building a career in Nashville, I thought I had "arrived." I was chasing the next big thing: another single, another artist on my resume, a higher chart position, a bigger tour, more recognition. For me, the music industry wasn’t just my career—it became tied to my identity. That pursuit of "more" eventually left me blindsided, and in the late '90s, I became a Believer.

I transitioned from pop, rock, and country music to Contemporary Christian Music. But even as my genre shifted, my motivations didn’t. It was still about my music, my name, and my reputation. In 2004, I had a life-changing encounter with the Lord, and I was confronted with the deep-rooted pride and mixture in my heart. Not long after, my family moved to Minnesota for ministry work, and I thought I might never touch music again. That season cost us everything I had worked for in Nashville, yet it also gave us some of the most cherished and deeply meaningful moments as a family.

After five years, we relocated to Colorado, where we still call home and began rebuilding everything we had lost. It was here that God gave music back to me—on His terms. Now, with that perspective, I see music as a gift to share, not a tool for self-promotion.

Looking back, I’m immensely grateful for my journey. I understand the dreams many people have of mastering an instrument and experiencing the highs of a music career. But I’ve also learned the importance of focusing on things that truly bring life. With most of my children now grown and much of my life rebuilt, I’m excited to share what I’ve learned. This program is designed to equip you to play confidently in months, not years, whether you’re a Christian or not.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story. I’d love to hear from you—let me know where you are in your journey and what you hope to accomplish. I’m here to help. The piano isn’t just an instrument; it’s an adventure. And trust me when I say, you’re about to discover something beautiful. Welcome to Pro Piano Series. Let’s go make some music!
